

Brighton Festival 2017 - Programme announced
The full programme for Brighton Festival 2017 - the largest annual curated multi-arts festival in England - has been unveiled with the acclaimed recording artist, poet, playwright and novelist Kate Tempest as Guest Director. Prizes for budding poets
The theme of this year’s contest is ‘Everyday Epic’, in celebration of Brighton Festival 2017’s Guest Director Kate Tempest. The competition is divided into four age groups, ages 8-10, 11-13, 14-16 and 17-19, and four prizes will be given in each of these categories, with one winner being announced by our Guest Judge on the night of the event. Over 50 secondary students showcase their own compositions
On 30 November 2016, 50 Year 9 musicians from Dorothy Stringer and Cardinal Newman Secondary Schools came together at St George’s Church, Kemptown to showcase their own compositions. Carousel supporting artists with learning disabilities
Play what you see is the inspiration behind Figurenotes, a simple system designed to demystify the first steps in learning to read music. Each musical note has a corresponding coloured symbol and with the help of stickers on the instruments, learners play what they see. Following auditions in early February the line-up for this year’s festival has been confirmed! Taking to the stage at The Old Market on 21 and 22 March will be 22 talented bands and solo acts. They are drawn from 12 schools and colleges from across the city and are eager to impress with their mix of original songs and well worked covers.
