SoundCity4, Brighton & Hove's annual youth music festival, is just around the corner! The line-up has now been finalised for the gig on Saturday 12th March at the Corn Exchange and we are pleased to announce that the gig will involve performances from the following acts: Oscar Arnell, Audio Active's PLAY, Brighton & Hove Youth Percussion Ensemble and Unified Rhythm, Kerwire, 0360 and many more acts besides. TAKE PART: Summer School 29 Jun - 29 Jul
BHMA are providing over 20 different courses this summer between 29 June and 29 July. Courses range from singing, music technology and the arts (no previous experience needed) to string, brass and woodwind for pupils already learning an instrument. There’s a large selection of Rock and Pop courses too including keyboard, guitar, drum kit and Band week. Course details, dates, fees and how to apply will be published on the BHMA website during March. Subsidies are available.

BRIGHTON FESTIVAL: Students to feature in 3 events
The Brighton & Hove Music Centre Brass Ensemble will again be leading the Brighton Festival’s Children’s Parade on Saturday 7 May with SKA as it’s theme! Following the Parade, BHMA students will be providing musical entertainment on several different “Perfect Pitches” around the Royal Pavilion Estate from 1pm-4pm. There will be Jazz and popular music on New Road, acoustic sets in the Dome Foyer and string and wind chamber ensembles in Brighton Museum and the Royal Pavilion Mu

Music Practitioners: A successful JPDD for music & culture
Over 120 music educators and partners attended the 5th joint practice development day for music and cultural education recently. Workshops included sessions from RedZebra, Glyndebourne, Musical Futures, Drake Music and Sonic Pi. Laura Gander-Howe provided the keynote, talking of the cultural education challenge. EVENT: Sounds from the City 14 & 15 Mar at Studio Theatre
Sounds from the City returns to the Studio Theatre for a 16th consecutive year. Since its launch, this two day festival has provided a platform for over 300 acts, some of which now enjoy national and international success. Selected by a panel from the music industry, music educators and young people, the talents of over 27 young bands and solo performers will be showcased over two days.
